Born physically at Santiago, Chile on 1982. From a family of immigrants from different latitudes, Raised in the chaotic city center of a south american capitol made Eduardo experience the multiculturalism from a very young age. Studied in Santiago between 2002 and 2007, at Universidad de las Americas the career of computer's engineer and after at Departamento Universitario Obrero Campesino (DUOC) the career of Business Administration. When he finished his second studies he moved to the remote area of San Pedro de Atacama where he got inspired by the wild nature and the Inca's path. From that moment an on, his appetite for traveling start to grow, passing by several inspiring countries in the whole South-american and European continents, discovering how "the Latin American people found themselves at the surrealism" but also been living and working in Europe and seeing how "the European protest with the surrealism"
Born as a painter at Amsterdam, The Netherlands on 2009, Eduardo Rojo’s expressive language derives from his life experience, so far. His concepts display several very different experiential facets, while all encapsulating a common idea, Catharsis with, as its primary function, object creation.
His painting method is intuitive, automatic, a distillation of the driving force of traditional method. Pure, psychic, automatic. Where reason no longer has any power, is no more than the need, the history, From which the picture-making phenomenon arises and the object ultimately develops.
The creative touch of the artist is mysterious, finds its way by magic. Is seen in the automatic, almost ritualistic process and in the effect. Its purpose is cathartic - purifying, consecrating. The pure, creative act.
Ritual, one of the oldest customs of the planet, now reappears as therapeutic process and object. Archaic tradition returns, is relived, celebrated, emulated. Everything is cyclical. Also this, specific life-cycle, its joys and its vicissitudes, rendered here as process and object.
And so, in the moment of creation, material and medium are guided. Ritual intersects the now. Immersed, accentuated folds and angles emerge in purely abstract language. These forms . . this resulting object, is coloured by and carries, in its emerging layers, highly informative content.
